We are pleased to share a patient testimonial from Manuel, who is a senior in high school. He has been participating in Serving Kids Hope’s programs for many years now.
How did you and your family become involved with Serving Kids Hope?
I actually started out when I was in elementary school. I was around 12 at the time. When my mom first told me about it, I was a bit skeptical about it. But I tried it with my two younger siblings.
How has SKH’s programs changed the health and outlook of you and your family?
My mom has always been a bit concerned about our weight and she has always been on the lookout for us. Attending those Fit Club sessions really gave me the knowledge that I needed to eat and be healthier. We try our best to eat as healthy as possible.
What programs have you participated in? Did you enjoy them?
I participated in the Fit Club and helped in the one last year over the summer. I enjoyed helping out because it gave me something to do.
What advice would you give your friends to become healthier and fit?
It’s hard trying to eat healthy and exercise but one can accomplish that with the help of people around you. You can also set goals that you can accomplish a month.
Do you have any future fitness goals?
I hope I can lose weight and be fit. My parents always tell me about my weight and that makes me want to try to get more healthy.
What advice from Dr. Riba’s staff resonates with you the most?
To eat more healthy, to be healthy, and to live a healthy life.
