Dr. Albert Chang
I have been a pediatrician providing care to children of underserved communities for the past 13 years, and the Regional Medical Director of AltaMed Health Services Corporation in Orange County for over 5 years. I am a graduate from the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC), Board Certified in Pediatrics, and have completed a Preventive Medicine Residency at UCLA. I obtained both my Medical Doctorate and Masters of Public Health degrees from Boston University School of Medicine, where my focus was in the Social and Behavioral Sciences. Prior to joining AltaMed, I worked with the Orange County Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, where we integrated a Childhood Injury Prevention program into physician offices throughout the county. In addition, I helped to develop and implement an Injury Prevention Training Program for the pediatric residents at both CHOC and UC Irvine. For several years I was a Pediatric Consultant for the Orange County Health Care Agency, providing medical evaluation and direction for children with special needs (cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, etc.) receiving school-based physical and occupational therapy services through the California Children’s Services program. I have been involved with many Children and Families Commission (Proposition 10) programs including a PBS television program called “Help Me Grow”, where a colleague and I provided educational vignettes directed to the parents and families of young children. As the Regional Medical Director for AltaMed, I am responsible for providing clinical oversight of our 7 primary care clinics in Orange County, managing our Medical Directors at each site, and advocating for the needs of our 50 medical providers. I sit on the Medical Leadership Council, and work closely with our Operations, Health Education and Marketing teams, to ensure the success of our many programs and projects within our Orange County clinics.
